Spring 2003 Child Care Provider Workshop Schedule

March 19	7-9 pm	4	The Most Amazing Instrument. (Direct Training) Sing, hum, stomp and clap to easy sing-along songs, inclusive circle games, and a few old favorites with a new twist using the ultimate music making machine—You! Introduces importance and need of music education for young children.
March 20	11 am-2 pm	5	HOT TOPICS FOR CENTER DIRECTORS: Recruiting, Hiring, and Training Staff. (Satellite Training) •New staff orientation. •Planning professional development for staff. •Innovative training ideas.
April 10	7-9 pm	6	Activities for Learning Math: Numbers, Colors, Shapes. (Satellite Training). •New ideas for math learning. •Low cost—no cost, fun activities. •Helping parents understand what children are learning.
April 24	7-9 pm	7	Managing the Television. (Direct Training) This workshop will examine ways to get the most from your television viewing. We'll discuss what kids get from TV, and viewing tips for parents, caregivers, and teachers in order to use the television appropriately as an educational tool.
May 8	7-9 pm	8	Active Times—Quiet Times: Making Transitions Easier. (Satellite Training) •Nap time, drop off, and pick up. •Fun activities to make clean-up easier. •Ideas for calming the chaos.
May 20	6:30-8:30 pm	9	A Visit to Stover's Nature Barn. (Direct Training) This workshop will take place at Stover's Nature Barn. A Tour of the facilities and nature activities will be featured. (Call the extension office—717-270-4391—for directions to the Nature Barn.)
